The House of Representatives has resumed from recess with Speaker Abbas Tajudeen warning that as 2027 approaches, politics must not override national interest.

This was his position during Plenary, where he also announced a 100-day legislative plan to close the 10th House, saying that 65 to 70 percent of its Agenda is achieved with 2,747 bills received and 363 passed.
The first legislative day of the week after ending a two weeks break, the House has listed priorities to include constitutional amendments on State Police and Reserved Seats for Women, alongside demanding early submission of the 2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework.
The House also received two letters from President  bola Tinubu — one to domesticate the Geneva Conventions to protect civilians in armed conflict, and another seeking 100.5 billion naira reimbursement to Yobe State for the Damaturu cargo airport.
Earlier, the Speaker swore in Usman Kalla as new member for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye, while Chinwe Nnabuife of Anambra defected from APGA to APC.
In a separate motion, the House resolved to investigate the October 5th Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 crash in Ondo State that killed 25 persons, and to audit all Air Force aircraft.
Lawmakers Alhassan Rurum and Donald Ojogo blamed poor funding, delayed releases and spare parts shortage for safety lapses.
As part of its resolves, the House urged the Air Force to strengthen maintenance and compensate families of the victims, and observed a minute of silence in their honour.
