The House Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream has passed confidence votes on President Tinubu, the NMDPRA and Aliko Dangote.
Chairman Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere said at the close of Downstream Week 2026 that local refineries now supply over 75% of national fuel, with zero shortfalls and 25 days sufficiency, listing the new Port Harcourt laboratory and Africa’s first petroleum liquid trading exchange as gains.
The committee says no supply security without pipeline security, imports must only be for verified shortfalls, and crude supply to local refineries must be enforced.
On pipelines, the House urged the Federal Government to increase funding for surveillance, saying 3 million barrels per day is now within reach.
The House also opened probes into two petitions — one against NIPCO gas licences in four states and the Lekki Free Zone, and another against NNPCL’s Downstream boss Dr. Mumuni Dagazau over alleged money laundering.
