Family Counselling Center, NEPWHAN Collaborates with Oyo WDC to Scale Up Oyo CLM Project

IBADAN — As part of efforts to scale up the success of the ongoing Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) project in Oyo State, executive members of the Family Counselling Center, led by Mrs. Titilade Ogunkunle, alongside the State Coordinator of the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), Mr. Olawale Faith Abiola, on Friday, paid an advocacy visit to the Chairman of the Oyo State Ward Development Committee (WDC), Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Oloyede.

Briefing the WDC chairman on the purpose of the visit, the NEPWHAN state coordinator acknowledged the vital role and impact of the WDC in running and delivering healthcare services across primary health centres (PHCs) in the state.

Mr. Abiola said the delegation was at the WDC office to seek the committee’s support and collaboration for the ongoing project.

He clarified that the project is not designed to witch-hunt PHCs or their administrators, but rather to empower citizens to take ownership of public health facilities and speak out on grey areas requiring urgent government intervention. According to him, this will ensure seamless access to healthcare for all residents.

Also speaking, the Director of the Family Counselling Center, Oyo State, Mrs. Ogunkunle, solicited the assistance of the WDC across local government areas in monitoring activities at grassroots health facilities. She also pressed for a robust working relationship with implementing partners handling the project whenever the need arises.

Mrs. Ogunkunle noted that the CLM project is being implemented nationwide, adding that the success recorded in Oyo State will complement broader efforts to improve the well-being of the citizenry.

She assured that critical issues affecting residents’ access to healthcare would be promptly escalated to relevant authorities for immediate action.

In his response, the Oyo State WDC Chairman, Alhaji Oloyede, warmly welcomed the delegation. He commended the team for initiating the project, noting that it aligns seamlessly with the core mandate of the WDC.

Alhaji Oloyede assured the team of the committee’s unwavering support and cooperation to guarantee the total success of the project across the state.
