IBADAN — The Oyo State Police Command will on Wednesday launch Operation Velvet, a strategic enforcement drive designed to enhance security, protect lives, and enforce strict compliance with traffic regulations across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ibadan by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
According to Olayinka, the special operation will focus on identifying and impounding unregistered vehicles, checking invalid or incomplete documentation, and arresting drivers using defaced, covered, or missing number plates.
ahead of the exercise, the Command advised vehicle owners with obscured number plates or missing papers to regularize their documentation immediately to avoid sanctions.
The statement warned that vehicles found breaking traffic laws would be impounded, while defaulting owners or drivers face prosecution in accordance with the law.
