OSOGBO — The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has strongly condemned the boastful remarks made by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, regarding the upcoming August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The APC National Chairman had earlier boasted that the ruling party’s heavy mobilization—including governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, and other political heavyweights—would easily overwhelm Governor Ademola Adeleke. He notably framed the contest using a “trailer versus Keke Napep” analogy.
In a sharply worded response, TICC dismissed the analogy as a glaring display of political arrogance, arguing that it proves the current APC leadership remains profoundly out of touch with the political realities on the ground in Osun State.
In a statement signed by Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the Imole Campaign Council, the Council emphasized that democratic elections are decided by the electorate rather than the assemblage of political office holders or external elite forces.
“Elections are won by the people and not by the number of governors, National Assembly members or political office holders a party can assemble,” the statement read.
The Council further advised the opposition leadership to show basic respect for the intelligence of the Osun electorate.
Instead of relying on empty boasts about intimidating political structures and massive external mobilization, the APC was urged to focus its campaign on constructive issues and credible policy alternatives.
