Nollywood actor and popular content creator, Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has officially put to rest swirling rumors of a falling-out with box-office queen Funke Akindele, following her conspicuous absence at the Lagos premiere of his debut cinema feature, Star Lomo.
The social media sphere had been buzzing with mixed reactions after Akindele failed to show up at the Sunday red carpet event. Netizens quickly weaponized her absence, raising eyebrows over the current state of a once-unbreakable professional and personal alliance that had blossomed heavily over recent years.
However, moving swiftly to douse the tension, Kamo took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday to set the records straight, making it clear that there is no bad blood between them.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms,” Kamo stated firmly.“
Dispelling notions of a hidden rift, the comic actor explained that Akindele’s absence was strictly logistical—she was miles away outside the shores of Nigeria.
Kamo insisted that they had already ironed things out before the big event. “She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise,” he added.
While reassuring fans of her continued goodwill, he revealed that the Everybody Loves Jenifa star is fully prepped to throw her weight behind the cinematic project. “We’ve spoken about it, and she’s going to support this film.”
He further appealed to observant fans and critics alike, Kamo pleaded for privacy regarding their bond: “I’d appreciate it if our personal relationship isn’t speculated on. Let’s keep our focus on the film.”
