Lagos state on Saturday defeated Ogun the defending champion to emerge winner of the fifth edition of the South-West U-19 Cricket Tournament tagged “Jide Bademosi Cup“ at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium.
Lagos won by 159 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, and Ogun 120 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs.
In the third place was Oyo state who had defeated Osun by scoring 58 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs , while Osun had 55 runs in15.1 overs.
Adeyemi Adegbola, the Ogun coach said that the match was a tough one and that his bowlers gave away too many runs.
Adegbola said that his bowlers didn’t play according to plans.
“ Our major players dd not attend this competition because of school, we will go back to intensify more efforts into grooming the ones who participated in this competition,” he said
Azeez Salako, Lagos coach said that wining this edotiin was a dream come true.
Salako said that they have they have been trying in previous editions to emerge champion.
“ Over the past four editions we’ve always been second or third and I glad we won this edition” he said.
The tournament was sponsored by Energy and Mineral Resources Mining(EMR) owned by Seye Fadahunsi a former crickter.
The competiton featured the six states in the South-West. The competition kicked-off on April 15.
