The Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission has concluded an oversight visit to the Commission in Enugu, to assess its facilities and operational readiness.
Briefing the Committee, the Managing Director, Mr. Mark Okoye, said the Commission is advancing strategic projects including gas pipeline and railway projects, alongside partnerships with Federal Ministries, State Governments and the private sector.
He also cited the South East Vision 2050 consultations and the Venture Capital Programme which provided equity investment to 25 startups across the five South-East states.
The Committee, led by its Chairman, Senator Orji Kalu, inspected both the temporary and new permanent headquarters in Enugu, assessing office spaces, furnishing and ICT infrastructure.
Senator Kalu however expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, but urged the Commission to ensure its impact is felt beyond Enugu, in communities across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
