The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Methodist School, Bodija, came second, while Orogun Grammar School, Ibadan, secured the third position in the competition held in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The Founder of the club, Mrs Ezinne Ibe, said the initiative was designed to help students cultivate the habit of reading, broaden their knowledge and build confidence.

She said, “The competition was not only about winning, but also about learning, interaction and exposing students to the opportunities that books provide.”

According to her, reading had contributed immensely to her personal growth and success, urging the students to embrace books as companions for life.

Also speaking, the competition coordinator, Dr Alero Adegbolagun, said The Female Professionals Book Club was founded in 2017 as a platform for women professionals who are passionate about reading.

She said members of the club, drawn from fields such as medicine, banking, engineering and media, regularly read books to expand knowledge and inspire excellence.

Adegbolagun urged participants to see books as sources of mentorship and motivation capable of helping them achieve their dreams.

In her remarks, a guest speaker, Miss Oyinyechi Ibe, described reading as an intentional act of discipline that strengthens the mind and improves critical thinking.
