The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, promises to promote the Adeyipo Research and Library Centre, aiming to preserve and showcase African heritage.
The state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, disclosed this after a meeting with the founder, Dr. Bayo Adebowale, during a courtesy visit to the ministry.
He noted that the facility remains a recommended tourist site, pledging the ministry’s support and a planned media tour to further open it to the world.
However, the founder Adebowale explained that the centre, with over 150,000 volumes serving 300 villages and hosts cultural events.
He added that the facility has hosted past dignitaries including the late Dr. J.P. Clark and Professor Wole Soyinka and expanded significantly, with contributions from Aare Afe Babalola, now housing a vast collection and cultural groups.
The meeting climaxed with the presentation of his book, “Up from the Cornerside.
