The Good Governance Advocates Without Borders has announced plans to stage a series of non-partisan rallies across Abuja, Lagos, and other major cities to commend President Bola Tinubu for what it described as significant improvements in Nigeria’s security landscape under his administration.
The rallies, expected to attract participants from different walks of life, are aimed at expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and crude oil theft, while also demonstrating support for security agencies engaged in the fight against violent crime.
The Convener of the group, Charles Onoja, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying the initiative was designed to celebrate the sacrifices of Nigerian security personnel and encourage sustained investment in the country’s security architecture.
He noted that improved intelligence gathering, enhanced collaboration among security agencies, and increased investment in modern military equipment had strengthened ongoing operations against criminal groups across the country.
Onoja further cited recent operations by security agencies, including the dismantling of illegal crude oil refining camps in the Niger Delta, the disruption of kidnapping syndicates in the North-West, and successful rescue operations involving abducted victims in different parts of the country.
He also paid tribute to members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices in protecting the country.
The group urged Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, to support ongoing efforts to improve national security, insisting that sustained peace remains critical to economic growth, investment, and national development.
Recent months have seen intensified military operations against insurgents, bandits, kidnappers, and oil thieves in several parts of the country. Security agencies have repeatedly reported the elimination of terrorist commanders, the rescue of kidnapped victims, the destruction of criminal hideouts, and the recovery of arms and ammunition as part of the Federal Government’s renewed efforts to tackle insecurity.
While security challenges persist in some regions, the government maintains that sustained military offensives, intelligence-driven operations, and collaboration with local communities are yielding measurable results.
