Trading on the floor of the Nigerian stock Market closed in negative territory on Friday, pressured by persistent profit-taking among institutional investors.

The All-Share Index (ASI) retreated 0.33% to settle at 248,877.22 basis points.

Market activity contracted sharply compared to Thursday’s close, reflecting a notable cooling in investor participation.

Volume dwindled as market players exchanged approximately 377.66 million shares valued at N26.8 billion across 32,666 deals. Meanwhile, overall market capitalization closed the session softer at N161.5 trillion.

Despite the broader market retrenchment, tier-1 liquidity remained concentrated in select equities. Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) and Honeywell Flour Mill drove the session’s major volume blocks, capturing heavy institutional and retail interest.
