IBADAN — Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has announced that it will commence the distribution of newly printed Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) across all 33 Local Government Area offices in the state starting from Friday, October 9, 2026.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Professor Adeniran Rahmon Tella, made this known in a statement issued in Ibadan, noting that the issuance exercise will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays.
According to the REC, the distribution exercise is specifically targeted at newly registered voters, those who recently transferred their polling units, and individuals whose PVCs were lost or damaged during the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Professor Tella strongly emphasized that the collection of the newly printed cards will be strictly personal and will not be allowed by proxy. He added that the commission has put adequate security arrangements in place, in collaboration with security agencies across the state, to ensure that the exercise remains transparent, orderly, and peaceful.
While urging the general public and key election stakeholders to cooperate with the commission for a seamless process, Professor Tella reminded residents that the commission still holds a significant number of uncollected old PVCs from the 2023 general elections at its offices across the state, calling on owners to seize the opportunity to retrieve them.
