The South East Development Commission has flagged off its Agro-Development Programme with a 200-hectare integrated model farm at Nomeh Unataeze in Nkanu East, Enugu State.
The pilot project, in partnership with the Enugu State Government, is expected to boost food production, create over one thousand direct jobs, and train young people in modern farming techniques.
SEDC Managing Director, Mark Okoye, says the farm will integrate dairy, poultry, fisheries and processing, and will also support 300 smallholder households through an out-grower scheme.
Dignitaries at the event included Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented Governor Peter Mbah, and the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh.
