ABUJA — The Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee investigating the unestablished Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Honourable Yusuf Gagdi, has disclosed that the final report of the investigation will be made public next week.
Honourable Gagdi made this known while highlighting grave discrepancies uncovered by the panel in signatures on various exhibits submitted by key stakeholders during the ongoing legislative inquiry into the purported agency.
Representing the Inspector-General of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olufemi Akinola, informed the Committee that the purported Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi, is currently in detention based on a subsisting court order.
According to DCP Akinola, this legal constraint is responsible for the suspect’s inability to honour the Committee’s earlier summons.
He, however, clarified that the restriction could be vacated if the Committee issues a production warrant to override the subsisting order, thereby facilitating the appearance of the suspect at the next adjourned sitting.
Earlier in her submission, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, admitted that official documents linked to the committee’s findings were forged.
While acknowledging the systemic vulnerability, she pledged that her office would immediately tighten its administrative processes to forestall future occurrences of such irregularities.
