Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Seyi Makinde and the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, describing as unfounded the circulating rumours of an impeachment plot in the state.
The house came up with the resolution during today’s plenary session , with lawmakers reiterating their support for both the executive arm under Makinde and the legislative leadership led by Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin.
The Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, representing Ogbomoso South State Constituency, moved the motion during the sitting following his submission characterising the allegations that made rounds as “baseless, distracting, and politically motivated.”
Honourable Adedoyi stressed that the Assembly remains united and committed to its constitutional responsibilities, adding that no formal communication or process suggesting impeachment had been initiated within the chamber.
While describing those spreading the claims as enemies of the state, the Deputy Speaker, Honorable Muhammed Fadeyi maintained that the 9th Assembly is a unified house.
“There is no division in this House. We are focused on governance and delivering democratic dividends to the people of Oyo State through quality representation. The rumours making the rounds exist only in the realm of speculation and should be disregarded in their entirety by the public,” he said.
He also commended Governor Makinde’s leadership, particularly highlighting achievements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
Other lawmakers echoed similar sentiments, noting that the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms has significantly enhanced stability and development across the state.
Hon. Gbenga Oyekola maintained that the Assembly cannot be influenced or manipulated by any individual or group, urging those behind the alleged plot to desist.
He reaffirmed the House’s loyalty to the governor and its leadership under the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
