A Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki , has pledged to strengthen the Oyo State security network, also known as Amotekun, and ensure maximum security if elected as governor of the state.
Otunba Opatoki made this pledge during a roundtable engagement with party loyalists across local government areas in Ibadan, held at the House of Chiefs Secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, as part of his four cardinal points.
While answering questions from the youths on the present security challenges in the state and the country at large at the event, he maintained that the security of lives and property would be a major focal point alongside Agriculture, health, and economic development.
He explained that stakeholder engagement remains paramount in order to understand the youth population and their needs ahead of the coming primaries, adding that he intends to run a youth-driven system.
“We are just gathered together with the Oyo State youth to discuss what are the things the Oyo State youth think we can do if we are eventually allowed to lead the state. That’s why we are having the gathering today. I’ve declared my intention and I assure them that my government is going to be an inclusive government, which will prioritize the youth.
The priority will be given to youth. You see any state or any country developed, it’s youth. It’s how much the youth contribute that determines the largeness of such a community or state.” he said.
While lauding the Seyi Makinde administration for his style of leadership, he maintained that he will build on the outgoing government’s legacy to take Oyo State further amongst the fastest-growing economies in the nation “ We are going to have Omititu 3.0. And I said by God’s grace, we will have Omidutu 4.0. We will have Omidutu 5.0. and 6.0. Governor Makinde, his legacy will not be erased immediately, as we can see.
Because we know where the state was and we know where we are now. Due to his determination, his consistency, and his experience. Which has put Oyo State in the level we are now.” he said.
Meanwhile, he urged all residents of the state yet to pick up their voters card to do so, as its there duty as citizens of the country to vote, be voted for, and also elect those they feel are perfect to lead them. “ Everyone go and pick up their card so that they can choose the leadership of their choice. Because when you don’t have the card, they choose for you. We still encourage them.” Opatoki said.
