The Olubadan of Ibadanland, his Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has reassured the kingdom’s commitment to supporting the state government in its drive to protect the lives and properties of residents.
The first class monarch gave this assurance at the inauguration of the Ibadan Economic Investment and Business Development Desk, Ibadan Community Guards and Security Cordination Desk and Security Cordination Desk & Ibadan Food Security Initiative and Gari Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja who decried the present security situation in the country and the recent development in Oyo state noted that the Ibadan Community Guard, an initiative of the Olubadan ECONOMIC & INVESTMENT Committee led by Olori Dr. Onikepo Akande CON was formulated to cushion the already existing security architecture in all the 11 LGAs in the ancient city of Ibadan.
While he assured the New team of the traditional councils’ relentless support in making their duties seamless and successful, he implored residents to be proactive and share intelligence with security agencies whenever they notice any suspicious activity in their communities.
The chairman of the inaugurating committee Olori Chief Dr. Mrs.Onikepo Akande CON while delivering her speech at the event, noted that local initiative is designed not to replace government efforts but to complement existing government security architecture and ensure that our compounds, communities, and neighborhoods remain safe
While she added that Security is everyone’s responsibility, and the community initiative provides a structured platform for collective vigilance, she maintained that a secure environment aids economic boom.
She further maintained that the distribution of 5,000 bags of garri underscores our immediate commitment to food security and social responsibility, adding that economic transformation must walk hand in hand with compassion.
However, she disclosed that putting into consideration the caliber of members that form the strategic committee, they intend to scale up and sustain the novel initiative for the betterment of residents of Ibadan.
The Special Adviser to the state government on security Mr. Awoseni while lauding the concept, said it would improve the security of life and properties in the state, and works are ongoing to fuse them alongside already existing security outfits in the state.
