The House of Representatives Committee on Rules and Business has presented a report detailing the legislative scorecard of the Green Chamber as it commemorates its third anniversary.
The report revealed that the House introduced a total of 2,747 bills between June 2023 and June 15, 2026, out of which 363 have been successfully passed.
These figures were disclosed by the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Francis Waive, and the Spokesperson of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi, during activities marking the third legislative session of the 10th National Assembly.
Providing a breakdown of the legislative progression since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly, the lawmakers stated that of the 2,747 bills introduced, 1,782 are currently awaiting second reading.
Furthermore, the data indicated that 323 bills have been referred to various standing committees, 185 are awaiting consideration, while five bills have been negatived.
Meanwhile, addressing inquiries from newsmen regarding allegations that lawmakers pay to have their bills listed for legislative consideration, Hon. Waive dismissed the claims as unfounded.
He attributed the allegations to a misinterpretation of remarks previously made by a member of the House.
