Ahead of World Malaria Day 2026, residents of the state have been advised to ensure they protect themselves from mosquitoes by sleeping under mosquito nets to prevent contracting malaria.

This advice was announced during an outreach at the palace of the monarch in Olorunda community, led by Mrs. Titilade Ogunkunle, the lead focal person for the Family Counselling Centre, a partner with the state Ministry of Health.

She noted that malaria remains a major epidemic and is very dangerous. She added that, as part of efforts to ensure residents are well-informed about preventive measures, they will be amplifying their awareness campaign through Community-Led Monitoring (CLM).

She also mentioned that their visit to the king’s palace was to seek his cooperation ahead of World Malaria Day 2026 and to inform the monarch of their plans to sensitize residents on April 18th, before Malaria Day.

The Olorunda of Olorunda, His Royal Highness Oba Samuel Oludele Abiodun Folarinup Ilufemi Loye I, praised the group for their ongoing efforts to support government initiatives aimed at improving residents’ lives.

He, along with his queen, Olori Olusola Folarin, promised his support to ensure the success of their proposed sensitization visit.

The Community Led Monitoring CLM and ATM ( AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) is Supported by Global Fund through IHVN and Nepwhan,IHVN – Institute of Human Virology in Nigeria, and Nepwhan – Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria.
