DEPUTY Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has felicitated the government and people of Abia State on the occasion of the state’s 33rd creation anniversary.
It would be recalled that Abia was carved out of the old Imo State on August 27, 1991, by the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.
In a congratulatory message issued by his media office, Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency, commended the state government and the citizens for sustaining peace, strengthening security, and deepening their commitment to democratic ideals.
He described the prevailing peace and security in the state as vital catalysts for socio-economic development, sustainable growth, and investment opportunities.
The lawmaker praised successive administrations, both military and civilian, for their relentless efforts toward improving the state over the years, noting that current achievements reflect the collective contributions of Abia leaders past and present.
While acknowledging the strides of the current administration, Kalu commended Governor Alex Otti for prioritizing security and good governance, making specific reference to the recent establishment of an Air Force base in Umuahia, the state capital, as a significant step in boosting the state’s security architecture.
He called on all Abians to remain united and continue working collaboratively to ensure the state remains on an upward trajectory of progress and stability.
