As part of measures necessary to ensure an effective Budgeting system for sustainable growth of the Nation’s Economy, stakeholders and policy makers have proposed development mechanisms and planning to enhance the Budget strength and implementation.

This was their positions at a two-day national policy dialogue themed ”the imperatives of national development plan and effective budgeting system for sustainable growth of the Nigerian Economy”, organized by the National Assembly Joint Committee on national planning and economic affairs development in Abuja.

In his opening remarks, senate President Godswill Akpabio who was represented by Senator Peter Nwenbonyi says the dialogue upon conclusion, is expected to address the economic bottlenecks affecting the budgeting system and implementation.

Presenting a paper on Budgeting and economic growth, Dr. Kenneth Kwejeli maintained that getting it right to ensure sustainable growth of the nation’s economy includes creating critical and strategic infrastructure to support rapid economic growth, stimulate job creation in productive sectors, support market driven interventions among others.

He noted that with adequate development planning, the growing spate of poverty in the country would drastically reduce for the benefits of the people.
