Maritime Academy Sets Sail for 24 Billion Naira Revenue Target in 2026

The Acting Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Akwa Ibom State, Dr Kevin Okonna, has projected a revenue of 24 billion naira for the 2026 fiscal year.
The Acting Rector stated this when he appeared before the House Committee on Maritime Safety, Education and Administration for the institution’s 2026 budget defence session.
He further stressed that funds expected from cadets and students fees is projected to bring in 697.3 million naira, while other revenue sources including rent is projected to bring in over 30.1 million naira, noting that the institution has been repositioned to greater heights over the years.
Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Khadija Ibrahim, said the institution remains central to Nigeria’s maritime capacity development and human capital advancement and a vital pillar of Nigeria’s economy.
She added that the Committee is committed to supporting initiatives that will enhance the quality of maritime education and training; improve infrastructure and learning facilities; strengthen staff capacity and welfare; and ensure prudent and transparent use of public funds.
