Giving Back: Cheshire High School Alumni Boost Education with ₦10M Investment

In a bid to give back, the Cheshire High School Old Students Association has handed over a newly reconstructed three-block classroom building worth over 10 million Naira to the management of Cheshire High School, Ijokodo, Ibada.

The event, which took place today at the school’s premises, was attended by executives of the association from far and near, the commissioner for education, the chairperson of the school governing board, past and present teachers, students, and well-wishers.

The state commissioner for education, HONORABLE OLUSEGUN OLAYIWOLA, while speaking during the handing-over event, lauded the gesture of the old students, noting that the project is a clear demonstration of what can be achieved when commitment to education goes beyond words and is translated into meaningful and sustainable action.

He added that the alumni’s investment in classrooms and laboratories goes beyond the present to the future of the institution and the academic growth of generations of students who will learn, innovate, and excel within these walls.

Moreover, he disclosed that their support reflects a deep sense of responsibility and loyalty to their alma mater and sets a worthy example for other alumni bodies to emulate.

The chairman of the school governing board of the institution, Evangelist Olu Kayode, also commended the initiative, adding that such a gesture is needed in the state to support the state government’s efforts to revamp the education sector.

The school principal, Alhaja Tijani Motunrayo, who could not hold back her joy, sang praises of the alumni for their continuous support since her appointment as the school principal.

She added that, aside from the classroom reconstruction handed over today, the alumni have been tremendously helpful in various ways, including funding WAEC fees for indigent students, cash awards for outstanding students, and the provision of uniforms, among others.

However, the president of the association, constituted barely a year ago, Mr. Babajide Abatan, having commended the support of his team, reiterated the alumni’s continuous support and the school’s growth year after year.
